If I remember rightly I photographed this at RAF Binbrook during the last lightning show in 1987. Failing that it would have been either RAF Leuchars or Leeming. I only ever got to a couple of Airshows, those I've mentioned and the one that used to be at Teesside.
Can any of you RAF enthusiasts provide details?

Chris, it is a standard refuelling tanker for use on fighter airfields. Based on a TK. They were still in service into the eighties with some passed onto small civilian airfields when surplus. I think one was in service at Sherburn in Elmet and I saw another at Elstree in the nineties.

A '60s TK - early TKs had the crease in the front panel with side lights in the front panel and lollipop indicators. The 8 stud hubs indicate that this is a KE, KF, KG or possibly KH model. It is most probably a KG - later badged TK 1260. The TK was essentially a 4x2 civilian truck but was used extensively by the UK armed services. For 25 years the KG/TK 1260 one of the most popular UK fire appliance chassis. The last TKs built were TK 1260s for the British Army in the late 80s by AWD.
