2RTR Chieftain ARV

A Chieftain Armoured Recovery Vehicle (ARV) of the Light Aid Detachment, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, (LAD,REME), Cyclops, 2RTR seen on one of the service areas on Soltau Training Area in 1985, it had recovered the Chieftain Tank (00EB55) behind it. Note the dummey Sagger misile on the GPMG mount!

Most Chieftains were built at ROF Leeds, some batches for overseas customers were built by Vickers in Newcastle, England. The L60 engine, was however built by Leyland.
