A Comet Tank with two Centurions in the Middle East c1948/9. This pair of Cents were supposedly the first in the Middle East.

The Centurions are either early production MK3s or more likely MK2s used for crew conversion training, these would be fitted with the QF 20 pounder Gun, (80mm) with a co-ax Besa 7.92mm MG instead of the MK1s co-ax Polstion 20mm cannon. Now to follow on from pic 10911 as to id the Regiment, 5 Royal Tank Regiment (5RTR) was the first regiment to receive Centurion Tanks in 1946 possibly a few MK1s but more than likely the new MK2s which went into production in Nov 1945, So as to the date and amount of earlier Tanks this is not 5 RTR. Still leaves at least 48 RTRs to discount. If I rember right 2 RTR were in the Far East at the end of WW2 so that should count them out aswell.
