Tank Park Middle East c1948.

On the left we have a row of Sherman Recovery vehicles, to the right of these is a row of Cromwells then on the far right we have a row of Comets all with their Turrets reversed. The two behind the telegraph poles are also Cromwells. Note how all the Cromwells appear to still have their Normandy style exhaust cowls.

Why were the british Cromwell tanks sent to the US after the war or were they aslo built in the US and used by US forces?

Andy,
Chris Hall states the location as the Middle East.
As you can see it is close to the coast and would have been a holding area for tanks on their way back to the UK following the end of the 2nd World War.
It is very unlikely that UK built tanks, such as Cromwells or Comets, would be sent to the USA after the war, other than a few destined for military museums.
Regards,
Steve
