Stonne, a little town in the French department Champagne-Ardenne, was the place of a fierce tank battle in may 1940. The village changed hands 17 times over the course of three days of fighting between May 15 and May 17, 1940.

One of the Char B's attacked a German column and destroyed 2 PzIVs, 11 PzIIIs and 2 Pak 36 alone.
The Germans called it the "Verdun of 1940".
