St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC 05 May 2011. Royal 22 Regiment uses LAV III to provide access to residential areas. Two Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV III) from 2nd Battalion, Royal 22 Regiment, from Valcartier, Quebec, are parked on a flooded street in front of a drenched home in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Operation LOTUS(E) 1-11 is the Canadian Forces (CF) joint response led by Canada Command and conducted through Joint Task Force East (JTFE) to the floods in Montérégie, Québec. The domestic humanitarian relief mission incorporates Canadian Forces Army, Navy and Air Force assets to deliver much needed assistance to communities affected by these floods.In coordination with the Federal Government of Canada and the Provincial Government of Québec, approximately 550 members from the Land Domestic Task Force, based in Valcartier, along with approximately 100 reservists from the Territorial Battle Group, based in Montreal, are deployed in the affected areas. They are engaged in multiple tasks, including: the provision of planning and coordination assistance; provision of support to preserve essential municipal infrastructure, essential access routes and access to residential areas; assistance in the voluntary evacuation of civilians; and, provision of essential logistical and material support.

Deux véhicules blindés légers III (VBL III) du 2e Bataillon, Royal 22e Régiment, à Valcartier, au Québec, sont stationnés dans la rue devant une maison inondée, à Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. L’opération LOTUS(E) 1-11 est l’intervention interarmées des Forces canadiennes (FC) dirigée par le Commandement Canada et menée par l’entremise de la Force opérationnelle interarmées (Est) à la suite des inondations en Montérégie, au Québec. La mission nationale d’aide humanitaire comprend des éléments de l’Armée de terre, de la Marine et de la Force aérienne afin de fournir l’aide dont on grandement besoin les collectivités touchées par ces inondations. En collaboration avec le gouvernement du Canada et le gouvernement du Québec, quelque 550 membres de la Force opérationnelle terrestre, basée à Valcartier, et environ 100 réservistes du Groupement tactique territorial, basé à Montréal, sont affectés dans les régions touchées. Ils participent à de nombreuses tâches, notamment aider dans la planification et la coordination; offrir un soutien pour maintenir l’infrastructure municipale essentielle, les routes d’accès essentielles et l’accès aux zones résidentielles; aider dans l’évacuation volontaire des civils; fournir un appui logistique et matériel.
