Desert Bedford

10/7/2011. Buckfastleigh 1940's weekend.

SCJ 490 late 40's or 50's for this Bedford in desert colours. Just noticed one headlight replaced by the number 7.

Oddly marked - 3 Division sign on one side and an Army Group sign on the other!

It should have either one or the other on the right (looking at it) and an arm of service plate (with number) on the left. Another example of people not knowing what they're doing!

The left headlight has a hood over it for blackout drive conditions. I guess this can be removed for normal operation. The plate with the number '7' is the bridge classification. It means this weighs 7 tons loaded. I think it should be mounted below the headlight. I think this is the Bedford 'OY' model.
